Crespi first-year head coach Derek Fisher leads team to 3-0 start
2023-24 The California high school basketball season opened with several teams getting off to a good start. In boys' basketball, Crespi is off to a 3-0 start led by Derek Fisher, senior Carter Barnes and sophomore Joe Sterling each scored 26 points, and Los Alamitos and Bosco Tech ( Bosco Tech) both posted double-doubles. On the girls' side, Sierra Canyon opened the season with a win over Brentwood, led by Izela Arenas.
Hiring a former NBA head coach and former Lakers head coach brings with it intense scrutiny and attention. So far, Crespi's first year head coach Derek Fisher has been outstanding. His team is off to a 3-0 start.
On Friday night, first-year Carter Barnes and sophomore Joe Sterling each scored 26 points to lead Crespi to a big 97-78 win over Chatsworth. Aliya Arias scored 27 points for Chatsworth.

Jermaine Washington and Trestyne Nguru each scored 21 points as Rancho Verde beat Great Oaks 64-52.
Oaks Christian defeated Rio Mesa 52-44 on the strength of a great performance by Steve Prudholme.
Nathan Bamshad scored 18 points as Taft beat South El Monte 61-48.
EJ Vernon scored 20 points as Crossroads beat Culver City 76-39.
Preston Lee scored 20 points as Orange Lutheran beat Los Altos 60-51.
Saugus beat Loyola 68-46, Justin Perez had 22 points and Matt Correa had 17.
La Mirada beat La Serna 65-45 with 25 points from La Mirada freshman Gene Roback.
Windward beat Dollywood 63-56 with Gavin Hightower scoring 16 points and 7 assists and Jeremiah Hampton scoring 14 points.
Mercy Miller scored 24 points and Zach White had 23 as Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks beat Venice 88-39.
Brayden Burries scored 35 points as Easterville-Roosevelt beat Hesperia 87-51.
West Ranch beat Bakersfield Christian 80-65 with Jayden Robley scoring 21 points and Bishop Brooks scoring 19.
Girls basketball.
Sierra Canyon beat Brentwood 75-56 in the Harvard-Westlake tournament. ezra Arias scored 27 points and Jez Robinson scored 18.
