Damian Lillard passes 20,000 points in his career

On December 19, 2023, Damian Lillard scored 40 points in the Bucks' win over the Spurs, including the decisive layup in the final seconds. In doing so, he became the 51st player in history and the eighth active player to achieve the feat.
"I don't want to pretend it doesn't matter," Lillard said after the game. It's a great accomplishment. There's not a lot of people who can do that.
Lillard achieved the milestone in 794 games, becoming the 17th fastest player to do so.
"I think about everything that helped me get to this point," the Bucks player continued. I remember everything that happened in high school or college, the problems I had in my career before I got to the NBA - what I wasn't supposed to be, what I wasn't supposed to accomplish, and my mindset about it all. Sometimes you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. You have to have faith in yourself.
Lillard is one of the most talented players in the NBA and he's still at the top of his game. He should continue to climb the all-time scoring list.
